about the point

long point land acknowledgement

The Long Point Residents Association respectfully recognizes and expresses gratitude to the traditional stewards of the lands and waters where we live, work, and gather. Long Point and its surrounding areas are located on the traditional territories of diverse Indigenous peoples who have cared for and protected these lands and waterways for thousands of years.

We honor all Indigenous peoples who recognize the interconnectedness of all life, the sacredness of water, and the responsibility to safeguard the land and water for future generations. We also acknowledge the important contributions of First Nations, Métis, Inuit, and other Indigenous communities in shaping and strengthening our region and throughout Canada.

This acknowledgment is a step in our ongoing journey toward truth and reconciliation. We commit to learning from the past, respecting Indigenous knowledge and traditions, and fostering respectful and reciprocal relationships.
